The city of Cupertino, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, California, is set to host a “poverty simulation” that will attempt to show the city’s wealthy residents what poverty truly looks like, according to The Daily Caller.

The two-hour simulation, set for November 2nd, is being co-hosted by the city government and West Valley Community Services. The event will allegedly show participants what it is like to “work to overcome barriers to social services, live off insufficient income, and encounter unforeseen economic obstacles.”

Cupertino is symbolic of the wealth and success of Silicon Valley, and is home to Apple’s U.S. headquarters. The median household income in Cupertino is just over $153,000, compared to the average U.S. household median income of just $60,000.
